Four Tennessee men have been indicted for allegedly running a cockfighting ring in Hohenwald.
Howard Gay, Thomas Hardiman, Walter Wooten and Phillip Heidekker each face illegal gambling, conspiracy and animal fighting charges.
According to the US Attorneys office, the men operated The Shiloh Club, an every-other-week cockfight derby which had been operation for more than a generation and involved roosters from several states. During one fight, entry fees alone allegedly brought in more than $12,000, plus sales of concessions and paraphernalia.
More than 200 people have already been prosecuted for attending The Shiloh Club, following a raid in May 2009.
If convicted, the organizers could face up to five years in prison and $250,000 in fines.
