Soldiers and their families who use Nashville International Airport now have their own place to meet and greet each other.
A soldier’s lounge opened Memorial Day weekend, but the airport holds an official ceremony dedicating it Tuesday. The small, private room is on the ground floor, near rental car companies. It’s on the public entry side, so there’s no security checkpoint to go through.
Airport spokeswoman Emily Richard says the space was designed around the special needs of soldiers and their families.
“There is a T.V.; there are comfortable chairs; there are toys. It’s a comfortable place for them to be able to wait on their loved ones in a more private setting.”
Nashville is the closest international airport for thousands of guard, reserve and full-time military.
