The Tennessee Titans have a tall task Saturday night — trying to stop the best player in the NFL.
Experts, fans and Las Vegas betting lines all agree: The Baltimore Ravens are a heavy favorite against the Titans, thanks in large part to quarterback Lamar Jackson.
But NFL expert Gordon McGuiness of the website Pro Football Focus says special teams and field position could slow him down.
“If you can pin the Ravens inside the 1-yard line like they did against the Patriots late in the game last week, it kind of takes away the Lamar Jackson aspect because you don’t want to risk running outside and being tackled for a safety.”
Pinning Baltimore deep will fall mainly to Titans punter Brett Kern, who Pro Football Focus graded as the league’s best by far. It will also be up to the Titans’ offense to keep pace with Jackson. McGuiness says they could be up for the challenge.
“I think they represent a fairly interesting matchup for Baltimore because Derrick Henry has had a really good season running the ball,” McGuiness says. “And on the other side, Ryan Tannehill: I don’t think people realize just how good he’s been this year.”
Tannehill finished the year with the league’s highest quarterback rating, even better than Lamar Jackson.
