Volunteers turned out in large numbers last week and over the weekend to help flood victims clean up. But now, as people return to work and a regular schedule, there’s been a slight dip in their numbers.
Hands on Nashville matches volunteers to areas that need help in the city. HON’s Melinda Hirsch says she’s not worried about the decrease.
“Nashvillians may be resuming a semblance of their normalcy, but there are so many calls from all over the U.S., that groups are wanting to come in, that people are taking vacation to come here and actually volunteer.”
HON has signed up 9,000 volunteers to help with flood relief in Nashville. The organization is also trying to help surrounding counties that also need assistance recovering from the flood.
