Tennessee’s congressional delegation responded mostly along party lines to President Obama’ s speech on jobs and the economy. Nashville Democratic congressman Jim Cooper said the president made a good, high energy speech with ideas that will get America back on track. Memphis Democrat Steve Cohen said the President laid out an impressive plan with bipartisan ideas. Republican Senator Lamar Alexander said while he doesn’t hold President Obama responsible for the economy he inherited, he does blame the President for making the economy worse. Brentwood Republican Congressman Marsha Blackburn said the GOP house has already passed jobs legislation that’s been stalled in the Democrat-controlled Senate.
