Pedestrian Struck And Killed By WeGo Bus In The Gulch

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a WeGo bus on Eighth Avenue South on Thursday morning.

The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. on the 600 block near Gleaves Street in the Gulch.

Metro Police say the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, but in a statement at 9:10 a.m., WeGo said, “Details regarding the pedestrian’s status are still unconfirmed at the time of this posting.”

Photos on social media show authorities remain on the scene and two lanes of traffic have been closed on Eighth Avenue South. Traffic in both directions is using the southbound lanes.
