“Peer support” is a term you might hear in mental health, disease and addiction recovery work. The idea is really just what it sounds like: support provided by people who have been there, done that, and are still walking the walk. There’s one organization in Memphis that’s really leaning into this approach. It’s called A Betor Way. It’s dedicated to keeping dirty needles off the street and out of use. Producer Tasha A.F. Lemley spent an evening with them to see what peer support work looks like on the ground.
