The Predators will try to finish off the Detroit Red Wings Friday night after winning two games on the road.
Goalie Pekka Rinne has been given much of the credit for Nashville’s wins in the first round of the playoffs. He’s made at least 35 saves in each game.
The Red Wings are facing their earliest elimination from the playoffs since 2006, but Rinne says he’s trying not to get caught up in the significance of a win.
“I’m sure everyone realizes we have opportunity to close it out right now. At the same time, we focus on one game, Detroit Red Wings and just be ready to face them.”
Predators Coach Barry Trotz says despite the chance to win the series, he wants his team to play with “desperation” like they’re “in survival mode.” A win would send the Predators to the second round of the playoffs for just the second time in franchise history.
