A life size bronze statue of publisher R.H. Boyd has been stolen and detectives with Metro Police are offering a cash reward for information.

The 6’3″ likeness – weighing several hundred pounds – was bolted to a platform at the company’s Centennial Boulevard headquarters for nearly 40 years. It was ripped from the ground the night of December 5th. Police say in a statement they suspect thieves may have already sold it, or will in the near future.

Boyd, who was a freed slave, began publishing religious materials for African American churches in 1896.
