Fifty folks braved the elements to join us at the National Museum of African American Music’s Roots Theater for a panel exploring Nashville’s place in gospel history and culture, and a watch party for GOSPEL, the newest history series from Henry Louis Gates, Jr, airing on PBS. Hosted by LaTonya Turner, our panel included Patrick Dailey, director of the W. Crimm Singers, who also performed; Tim Dillinger, gospel historian and writer; Nashville vocalist Odessa Settles; and Dr. G. Preston Wilson, the new director of the Fisk Jubilee Singers. Also in attendance were gospel icon Dr. Bobby Jones and local legend Lorenzo Washington, founder and curator of the Jefferson Street Sound Museum.
