Tennessee’s top official in the United Auto Workers is now secretary and treasurer for the national union.
Gary Casteel joined the UAW in Nashville while working as a pipefitter and welder at the Ford Glass Plant.
Since 2002 he’s been the director of a ten-state region that includes Tennessee.
In his new post, Casteel will be assigned to oversight of the union’s finances, transnational organizing and relations with Mitsubishi Motors.
