Two Republicans in the state Senate and two Democrats in the state House took the top spots in a conservation scorecard released today.
Tennessee Conservation Voters ranks Marysville Senator Raymond Finney and Murfreesboro Senator Bill Ketron tops in the upper chamber. Democrats Mike McDonald of Portland and Mike Kernell of Memphis took the highest spots in the House.
Director Chris Ford heads the non-profit, non-partisan group. He says he’s pleased to see both parties represented.
“What we’re beginning to see more in Tennessee, which is more significant to us, is that it seems like the environment is becoming a shared value across party lines.”
Ford said a bill to improve energy efficiency in schools and a bill to improve water testing were among those that made the most significant environmental strides in the Legislative session that ended in May.
