Tennessee’s newly elected Representatives are in Washington with their families for the swearing in ceremony. The state’s delegation officially swings from majority Democrat to nearly all Republican.
Rep. Scott DesJarlais soundly defeated incumbent Democrat Lincoln Davis in November.
DesJarlais says in a statement he’s “deeply honored” to represent Tennessee’s 4th District and that he will “remain committed to my promise of returning fiscal discipline and accountability to Washington.”
DesJarlais is a physician from Jasper who goes to Washington as his first foray into politics. He’s joined by Rep. Stephen Fincher, a cotton and soybean farmer from Crockett County, who replaces retiring Democrat John Tanner.

Tennessee’s seven Republican Representatives posed together for a picture before the swearing in.
The two other Republican freshmen include Diane Black of Gallatin, who is a former state senator, and a lawyer from Chattanooga named Chuck Fleischmann.
