Tennessee Right to Life today announced that it is endorsing Republican Jim Bryson in the race for Governor.
During the primary season, the pro-life organization was quick to endorse Bryson and another Republican, senate hopeful Ed Bryant. When Bryant lost the senate nomination to Bob Corker, the group immediately announced that it would not endorse Corker in the general election. But until this week, Tennessee Right to Life was quiet about the general election for Governor.
Spokesman Lance Frizell says the Bryson campaign had a hand in the timing of the announcement.
“They supported us in the primary, given that Jim worked hard sponsoring legislation they supported in the general assembly, we’re happy to receive the endorsement, wanted to time it right before early voting so people go to the polls knowing who is the pro-life candidate.”
Bryson’s opponent also picked up an endorsement today. The Fraternal Order of Police is backing Governor Phil Bredesen’s run for reelection. The group represents 96-hundred law enforcement officers across the state.
