There will be one runoff election next month in Nashville: Residents of Metro Council District 1 will go to the polls one more time to choose a representative after the five-person race in northwest Davidson County did not yield a winner on Thursday night.
The runoff wasn’t a surprise for the field of well-known, longtime residents.
Jonathan Hall came the closest, with 34 percent. Judy Cummings followed at 28 percent. With the area’s small pool of voters, they were separated by 205 votes.
Hall and Cummings will face off next month, with early voting beginning June 8, and Election Day on June 28 — open solely to residents in that area.
Hall and Cummings are civically engaged candidates: Hall, a small businessman, is a vocal influencer at community meetings; Cummings, a reverend, has served on multiple Metro commissions.
