“Parents are frustrated, teachers are frustrated, everyone is frustrated.” That’s the official response from Rutherford County Schools today as they’re seeing further delays with TNReady testing material.
Up until last night, administrators expected the tests for all 45 schools to arrive today. They did arrive, but only for about half the schools. Which puts the district in a tough situation.
Schools have planned on the tests being administered, completed and submitted to the state before the end of the month. Which is also the beginning of spring break, and a pretty critical deadline.
Once students begin testing they only have 5 days to complete it, according to state regulations. And administrators do not want to wait until after the break.
So, Rutherford has opted to start some of their schools next week. Hoping it won’t be too long until the rest can catch up.
They’re not alone. Although some Nashville area schools have already finished testing, many have not. Districts all across the state have seen missed deadlines ever since the state reverted back to paper standardized testing earlier this year.
It’s unclear how these delays might affect the grading results, which was already expected to be delayed later than usual.
