A suspected serial killer waived his right to a pre-trial hearing (this morning/yesterday) in a Davidson County court. 56-year-old Bruce Mendenhall is charged in the murder of Sara Hulbert at a Nashville truck stop in June.
Fighting back tears, Hulbert’s sister, Roxanna Wayman made a statement for the family outside the courtroom.
“We’re glad that if Bruce Mendenhall is convicted of these crimes, he will not be allowed to be back on the street to do this to another victim. And no other family will have to go through what our family has endured.”
Police say Mendenhall has confessed to the Nashville murder and implicated himself in five other killings. So far, his only other charge is for an Alabama slaying. Reportedly, 75 law enforcement agencies are investigating crimes that may be linked to Mendenhall.
His case now goes before a grand jury which should happen in the next eight weeks.
