Damaging winds, tornadoes and hail may hit Tennessee on Wednesday evening.
The National Weather Service forecast severe weather across the region, with the highest risk in West Tennessee and the northwestern portion of Middle Tennessee.
NWS warned folks to start being weather-aware on Wednesday afternoon, as isolated storms could develop before the main line of storms rolls through.
“These storms are going to move pretty quick,” said Josh Barnwell, a meteorologist with NWS Nashville. “These damaging winds and tornadoes can spin up really quickly.”
Severe weather is traveling from the west and is expected to cross Nashville from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
NWS issued a wind advisory with estimated wind gusts up to 50 mph through the evening for the following counties: Bedford, Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Giles, Hickman, Houston, Humphreys, Lawrence, Lewis, Macon, Marshall, Maury, Montgomery, Perry, Robertson, Rutherford, Smith, Stewart, Sumner, Trousdale, Wayne, Williamson and Wilson.
NWS is not expecting much rain, but, given some already saturated areas, the agency issued a flash flood watch for Cheatham, Dickson, Houston, Humphreys, Montgomery, Robertson and Stewart counties.
