The National Weather Service is advising that severe weather could hit Middle Tennessee again Wednesday from about 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Strong winds capable of exceeding 60 miles per hour will be the biggest threat, according to NWS Nashville lead forecaster Sam Shamburger.
“We could see some storms with damaging winds and maybe a few tornadoes,” Shamburger said.
The risk is highest along and south of Interstate 40, including the southern portion of Metro Nashville down to the Alabama border. There could also be localized flooding, as forecasters have called for more than an inch of rain.
Shamburger recommends that folks have multiple ways to get watches and warnings: ensure your phone is set up to issue weather alerts, contact friends and family, and follow local media.
“If a warning does get issued, just be sure to know where to go. Take shelter, either in a basement or an interior room,” Shamburger said.
NWS has also called for potential severe weather late Friday night, so is advising anyone with New Year’s Eve plans to be weather aware.
Temperatures will drop considerably on Sunday.
Today: severe chances.
Friday night: severe chances.
Sunday: snow chances.
