New Orleans residents got the okay to return to their hurricane battered city tomorrow, but a few who took shelter in Nashville say no thanks.
38-year old Lyndon Boston, is among the 150 Hurricane Gustav evacuees at the Goodlettsville First Baptist Church. Boston is a lifelong resident of New Orleans who returned home after Katrina. But now says he’s lived through his last hurricane.
“I want a change. I want to move. I want to wake up, go to work, come home, relax, watch a little football, wake up and go to work.”
Another evacuee says he’ll also bid goodbye to New Orleans. 35-year old Tom Bodnar just got married and says he’s staying in Nashville. The Bourbon Street Bartender has already started the transition.
“I’ve been out all day everyday looking for work…as we say in the restaurant biz it’s networking, meeting people, putting in applications, interviews…so I’m doing everything I can.”
The New Orleans residents who are returning home will still have to contend with widespread power outages and a dusk to dawn curfew.
