A firearms manufacturer has announced plans to build a plant in Nashville and begin production this fall. The company is part of a Brooklyn-based startup.
Vantage is the name. It’s a spin-off by the owners of
Crye Precision, which has been designing and producing tactical gear — though not guns — for military, law enforcement and civilian markets since 2000.
The company will move into a 22,000 square-foot facility on Murfreesboro Road and create roughly 100 jobs over the next five years. Vantage officials say they will be making a new shotgun.
Several gun-makers have recently looked to the South as a place that is more friendly to firearms. Beretta
relocated a plant from Maryland to Gallatin this year.
Vantage officials did not mention Tennessee’s gun culture as a reason for locating the plant here. But they do say in a release that the area is “unwavering in its support of innovation.”
