Mike Stewart, an attorney from East Nashville, swept the Democratic primary for Rob Briley’s seat in the state House yesterday. He won with 75 percent of the vote.
Briley decided not to run for re-election in the state legislature following his arrest on drunken-driving charges in September.
Stewart had the financial upper hand in the race. He raised about 100 thousand dollars to Eric Stansell’s 10 thousand.
Stewart will run against independent Dan Scott in the November general election.
