Singer Miranda Lambert walked away from the Academy of Country Music Awards last night with her arms full. But 21-year-old Taylor Swift took home the big prize.
Despite her wild success, recently crossing the mark of 20 million albums sold, Taylor Swift had not yet won the ACM entertainer of the year.
“This is the first time that I’ve ever won this and I’m just losing my mind. The fact that this is from the fans makes it so beautiful. Thank you so much to the fans and anybody who voted.”
Swift joins a list of well-known artists who’ve won the ACM top award, including Dolly Parton and Carrie Underwood.
Entertainer of the year was Swift’s only win of the night while Miranda Lambert was called to the stage four different times. Her awards include single record, song and video of the year.
“I don’t know why I’m up here. I feel so blessed and so humbled. I really thank everybody. I thank God for giving me the blessing of living my dream. And I love country music fans. Thanks for believing in me and coming out to the shows. Thank you so much.”
Lambert’s female vocalist of the year is a repeat win. Brad Paisley won male vocalist of the year for the fifth year running.
