Nashville’s new street sweeper will keep the city’s bike lanes clear. But it doesn’t yet have a name. Voters have narrowed it down to four choices:
- Joclean
- Demonbroomin
- Patsy Clean
- hub Litter Bug
Which one will prevail? That’s up to you. Voting runs from now through Wednesday.
Nashville’s bike lanes are often littered with broken glass, tree limbs and other road debris. Cyclists had been asking Metro for a bike lane sweeper for at least five years before they followed through, debuting the new equipment in May to prepare for the annual Tour de Nash bike ride.
Some Twitter users expressed disappointment that other contenders didn’t make the shortlist.
“My vote is for Taylor (Swiffer). How do we get that one added to the (ballot)?” asked user @SoundsFan89.
“I’m going to request the raw data,” tweeted Metro Councilman Freddie O’Connell. “In the past 40 minutes, I have been inundated with requests wanting to know how Sweepy McSweepface did not make the list.”
NDOT staff has narrowed down the top 4 names for our new bike lane sweeper. Now, we need you to vote on what this cute little sweeper will be named!
