As stimulus money runs out, the Tennessee Board of Regents is considering the system’s largest tuition increase in at least six years.
The TBR Finance Committee met Monday to consider a nearly nine percent hike at Austin Peay and Tennessee State. MTSU and Tennessee Tech tuition would rise more – by nearly 10 percent – in order to convert temporary faculty into permanent employees and to help recruit professors in the sciences.
Generally, students taking 12 hours will be paying about $200 more per semester.
Community college tuition is set to go up by 9.5 percent.
The full TBR board will meet to approve the tuition increases later this month.
