The Tennessee Department of Transportation says it’s ok to resume work on a bridge that crosses the Cumberland River near Gallatin. It was one of nine projects under review after two workers were killed on a bridge project in Knoxville.
One was struck in the head by the bucket and arm of a track hoe in January. The second was hit by falling concrete while working to dismantle the existing bridge.
TDOT has been investigating the Knoxville building company Britton Bridge and its affiliate Mountain States Contractors after the accidents. Mountain States is building the bridge on the Wilson-Sumner County line. After the two week safety check, all nine projects were found to
