Members of Tennessee’s congressional delegation are reacting to the FBI search at Mar-a-Lago, the home of former President Donald Trump in Palm Beach, Florida.
Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-TN, believes the FBI executing a search warrant was unnecessary. She told Fox News that Trump was working with the FBI. She also believes the bureau has been out to get Trump since before he was elected in 2016.
“There is a cabal within the FBI that has politicized the agency,” Blackburn said, “and they did this from the time Donald Trump came down the escalator and announced his campaign. They have been after him.”
Congressman Steve Cohen, D-TN, told MSNBC that the search was needed, and that it should help reveal to Americans who Trump has been the whole time.
“People have to realize what Trump was, what he is. And he’s a person you can’t trust with anything,” Cohen said. “Rudy Allen used to make a joke a long time ago: When Nixon left the White House, he said the Secret Service used to have to count the china. Well, gosh, now they have to count the top security clearance documents.”
The unsealed warrant confirms that the FBI was searching the Trump property for top secret and classified documents, which they found.
