A bill aimed at “slow pokes” who block the left lane is headed to Gov. Bill Haslam’s desk.
The so-called Slow Poke Law, House Bill 1416, is meant to make it easier for police to ticket drivers who they deem are impeding traffic by driving too slowly in the passing lane. Such drivers can be fined $50.
The plan’s sponsor, East Tennessee Republican Frank Niceley, says it will reduce road rage.
Other legislators argued the measure is unnecessary because Tennessee law already requires drivers to keep to the right, except when passing.
