Tennessee Sen. Brian Kelsey is changing his plea more than a year after he was indicted on campaign finance violations. Prosecutors say the Republican lawmaker moved hundreds of thousands of dollars from his state campaign to his failed bid for Congress in 2016.

Kelsey originally pleaded not guilty, but he is set to reverse that decision, according to a motion filed Thursday in federal court.
This comes a week after Kelsey’s co-defendant changed his plea.
Josh Smith, who owns the Standard Club in downtown Nashville, pleaded guilty to funneling $67,000 from Kelsey’s state campaign committee to a national political organization. Smith has maintained a not guilty plea to five other charges related to Kelsey’s campaign.
Kelsey is not seeking re-election this year. His term ends next month after the Nov. 8 election.
