Tennessee will get a share of the 25 billion dollar mortgage settlement reached between the nation’s attorneys-general and large banks like Wells Fargo and Citigroup.
In a statement, Attorney General Bob Cooper says homeowners could receive up to 146 million dollars from the settlement. Certain homeowners would be able to refinance their loans if they’ve kept up with their payments. Others will be able to reduce the amount due on their mortgage if they owe more than what their home is worth.
The agreement still has to be approved by a federal judge.
