The House of Representatives has extended provisions allowing Tennesseans to deduct their state sales tax from federal income taxes for the next two years. It passed as part of a 60 billion dollar tax relief bill with incentives for renewable energy sources.
The sales tax deduction has long been an important issue to Brentwood Republican Marsha Blackburn. But she voted against the bill today, along with East Tennesseans Zach Wamp and David Davis. The rest of the state’s delegation voted for the measure.
