The Tennessee Valley Authority says Murfreesboro and Tullahoma are among a dozen cities across the Southeast that would be good sites for new data centers.
Data centers house computer systems for companies handing everything from web search information to financial transactions. TVA hired a consultant to assess 50 locations.
According to a statement, the agency’s board of directors has already approved electric rate incentives to attract such data centers to the region.
Along with Murfreesboro and Tullahoma, the 12 cities indentified as sites with the most potential include Jackson in West Tennessee and four cities in East Tennessee.
