Unemployment in Davidson County held steady in the month of August, at 7.4 percent. While that rate’s unchanged from July, it’s more than a point lower than the same period last year.
Overall, the state’s Department of Workforce Development says unemployment dropped in 90 counties.
Lincoln County has the state’s lowest jobless rate, at 5.7 percent.
Scott County, on the Cumberland Plateau, continues to have the state’s highest unemployment rate at 17.5 percent. However, it also registered the steepest decrease in joblessness among Tennessee counties. Unemployment in Scott County fell more than four percent between July and August.
