Vought Aircraft Industries today announced a billion dollar contract that will bring new work to its Nashville facility. Company spokeswoman Lynne Warne says Vought will be making wings and slats for a new Cessna business jet.
“The contract covers engineering, design, tooling, and production work. And the production and manufacturing will be done here in Nashville.”
Full-scale production is expected to begin in about three years.
Two years ago Vought nearly consolidated all of its operations in Dallas, a move that would have shuttered the Nashville factory. Instead, the company cut down on the size of the workforce and began to modernize the World War II era facility. Since then, the company has restored the jobs it cut.
