It’s likely to be a warm weekend in Middle Tennessee, with temperatures climbing into the low 70s tomorrow and Saturday. But persistent rain could lead to flooding in some areas. Nashville has seen about two inches of rain over the last few days, but a front moving in from southern Texas will bring more moisture this weekend. Bobby Boyd is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
“I think, we get into Sunday we could see heavy rainfall and that could pose some issues. But, probably through the Nashville area we could get a good three to four inches through this part of the Mid-State.”
Creeks and streams in the Nashville area could rise above their banks. But Boyd says the greatest risk for flooding is in the western part of Middle Tennessee. Water levels on the Duck River are forecast to rise by about five feet, between Hurricane Mills and Centerville. Further west, forecasters expect rivers in Jackson and Bolivar to rise above flood stage over the weekend.
