Commuters in downtown Nashville have a new transportation option – a shared car.
A venture from Enterprise Rent-A-Car called WeCar is the first open-enrollment car-sharing in Nashville. A company called ZipCar has offered a similar service on college campuses.
WeCar will station four Nissan vehicles near large downtown employers which can be reserved online by WeCar members.
Nashville Mayor Karl Dean says the car sharing will make mass transit options, such as bus service and commuter rail, a more viable option for downtown workers and visitors.
