Today a man sentenced to die in Tennessee asked the state’s Supreme Court to commute his death-sentence.
Earlier this month the state asked to set a date to execute Stephen Michael West. He was convicted along with another man in the 1986 rape and murder of a mother and daughter in East Tennessee.
Now West is saying the other defendant committed both murders, yet isn’t facing the death penalty. West also says he’s mentally ill, and is asking the Court to commute his sentence to life in prison.
