Former service members paraded down Broadway this morning as part of Nashville’s annual Veterans Day celebration. We asked some of them about the country’s incoming commander-in-chief.
Jerry Young, who served in the Navy, doesn’t believe president-elect Donald Trump will help veterans as much as he’s said he will. “Just going by his campaign and the way he ran his campaign,” Young says, “I don’t see too much coming of him.”
Kim Bartman of Pegram who served in the Army and Air Force is optimistic that Trump will be able to lead the military, despite disparaging remarks about prisoners of war and top generals. “I hope he makes some changes for the veterans. We really, really need it.”
Jeff Ferguson, an Army veteran and Trump supporter, says “I think he’s going to be doing alright. I mean, he’s a business head. I got faith in him…He is our president, and he’s for America.”
