Tennessee’s senators say they’re waiting to hear more about President Obama’s picks for TVA’s board of directors.
Senator Lamar Alexander contends the public power utility is a low priority for the administration, but he wishes he could have had some input.
“I’ve had virtually zero conversation with the White House about these appointees – to my regret – because I place a very high priority on it.”
Senator Bob Corker says in a statement he wants TVA directors who’ve had corporate board experience.
Nominee Lynn Evans – a Memphis accountant – has served on the board of Memphis Light, Gas and Water and a local bank. Also nominated are a lawyer from Huntsville, a Georgia Tech professor and a former Democratic candidate for Tennessee Governor, Mike McWherter.
