Wilson County and the city of Lebanon have landed Bible Park U.S.A., after months of negotiations.
The 175-million dollar Bible theme park just needs the approval of the city and county commissions. Lebanon mayor Don Fox says that shouldn’t be a problem. Once the park was run out of Rutherford County by potential neighbors, Fox says he courted developers for the tax revenues at stake. But he says he also believes in the project.
“As Don Fox, citizen of Lebanon, and being a believer in the Bible, completely, I want it because it’s going to give that Bible experience and that Holy Land experience to other people who may not ever have had that opportunity.”
Fox says general tax dollars won’t be used to fund construction. However, taxes collected from within the park will pay for bonds used to build it.
Developers have chosen a 113-acre site just off Interstate 40 that already has the necessary zoning. If the tax incentives are approved, the project could be completed in three years.
