Tennessee bill untangling gun and voting rights restoration advances, but faces uncertain odds

Tennessee is advancing a bipartisan bill to allow people convicted of felonies to apply to vote again without getting gun rights restored. The bipartisan effort to untangle the two rights has cleared early hurdles but several remain.

Tennessee passenger rail study prioritizes connections to Chicago, Atlanta and Louisville

The Tennessee Department of Transportation believes road trips between the state’s most populous cities could take up to an hour longer by 2045. To help cut that time down, the General Assembly is looking into adding passenger rail service linking major cities.

Tennessee Lawmakers Make Renewed Push To Pay College Athletes

Memphis Community Cools Under A Spotlight After Shooting By U.S. Marshals

The national media descended Thursday on the Frayser neighborhood in Memphis. The attention comes after U.S. Marshals killed Brandon Webber, a 20-year-old black man who Marshals say rammed their vehicle with a stolen car and got out with a weapon.
