Fisk University locks down after bomb threat, following string of cases at historically Black schools

At about 9 a.m. Monday, Fisk University began to evacuate and lock down the campus following a bomb threat. A university spokesperson tells WPLN News that Fisk has never experienced such a threat before, and it has shaken the campus.

The Boyd House, located on a corner of Fisk University’s campus in Nashville, was nearly torn down last year. While demolition was halted then, the fundraising effort to pay for a $1.1 million renovation now faces a deadline next month.

Nashville Will Celebrate Rep. John Lewis’ Legacy During March On Saturday

This weekend, the city will commemorate the portion of Fifth Avenue renamed after the civil rights icon, beginning with a memorial service Friday night at First Baptist Church. After Rep. John Lewis, who began his work in Nashville, passed away last year, Metro Council renamed the portion from Germantown to the Nashville City Cemetery, to Rep. John Lewis Way.
