Tennessee lawmakers are getting close to a final vote on a plan to do away with the state’s gun permit requirement. The measure has passed the Senate and is on track for a vote on the House floor — possibly as soon as next week.

Tennesseans could be a bit more discreet about carrying a handgun under a bill approved in the state House Monday night. The legislation would close carry permit records to the public.
