A retired Metro Nashville Police lieutenant has filed a 61-page complaint containing dozens of allegations related to what he describes as MNPD’s lack of transparency and resistance to accountability. WPLN News sat down with the retired officer to learn more.

Program pairing police officers with mental health clinicians will now cover entire Davidson County

Being HIV-positive will no longer automatically disqualify Nashville police candidates

A former Memphis officer of the year sued the city of Nashville last year. Using the pseudonym John Doe, he claimed Nashville police discriminated against him in 2020 when they rescinded a job offer upon learning that he had HIV.

Missing college student’s body found in Cumberland River; no foul play suspected

Police previously said the 22-year-old Strain was last seen just before 10 p.m. on March 8 after drinking downtown. A massive search had been underway ever since, with just small clues available to help investigators trying to find him.

Fusus, the controversial police surveillance contract, has been removed from Nashville’s Metro Council agenda

Nashville’s Metro Council will no longer consider the police surveillance contract they were set to take up at Tuesday’s meeting. Council members announced Monday that the legislation would be withdrawn. The Metro Nashville Police Department has also halted their usage of the program.

MNPD ends investigation into leaked Covenant shooting documents — with no answers

John Drake Jr., son of Nashville’s police chief, found dead after three-day manhunt

Two La Vergne police officers were shot while investigating a potential stolen vehicle on Saturday, Oct. 21. Police identified John Drake Jr. as the suspect, triggering a statewide law enforcement response and placing him at the top of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s “Most Wanted” list.
