Tennessee Health Chief Defends No-Bid Contract With Company With No Experience Testing For COVID

Tennessee’s Health Chief Lisa Piercey is defending  her decision to grant a no-bid contract to a vendor with no experience in testing for COVID. In a hearing with legislators Thursday, Piercey said it happened during a time when the state was having issue contracting companies to help with mass testing.

Gov. Lee Says Implementing COVID-19 Liability Protections Should Be Done Via Legislation

Gov. Bill Lee has not yet decided whether he should call for a special session. But, the Republican told reporters Tuesday it might be needed in order for lawmakers to pass a measure that would protect businesses from COVID-19-related lawsuits.

GOP Aims To Curb Nashville Police Oversight Board’s Powers — And Its Diversity Rules

Listen State lawmakers took the first step Monday toward eliminating the subpoena powers of police oversight boards like the one recently formed in Nashville. The proposal also restricts another key aspect of the group: its diversity requirement.
