Tennessee sets aside $230M in stimulus money for hospitals and nursing homes

Tennessee officials trying to distribute the last of the state’s federal stimulus funding have set aside $230 million for hospitals and nursing homes. They’re reopening an application process for facilities to allow them to make a case for some of the money.

TFA Starts Summer Study Program As Training Ground For Nashville Recruits

Teach for America has launched a summer program for kids in Nashville meant to kill two birds with one stone. It’s a training ground for TFA recruits as well as a way to prevent what’s known as “summer learning loss” for kids who might otherwise spend June and July in front of a TV.

Vanderbilt’s Love/Hate Relationship With Teach For America

Nashville Schools Recruiter Says She Can’t Do What Teach For America Can

Roughly one in six new teachers in Nashville’s public schools come from the non-traditional training program Teach for America. And a contract approved by the Metro school board this week will maintain that hiring pace for at least another three years.
