Tennessee Senate redistricting map thrown out by court, but dissenting opinion opens the door for an appeal

The state Senate’s redistricting map has been thrown out by the Tennessee Chancery Court in a 2-1 decision. However, the single dissent gives Republican Senators a shot at setting a precedent for future map challenges.

The Tennessee Attorney General is asking a Nashville judge to reconsider blocking a new statehouse rule. State Republicans in the House voted to ban demonstrators from holding signs inside the gallery at the start of this week’s special legislative session.

Covenant School parents criticize Tennessee Senate for adjourning early

Parents of the Covenant School are urging the Tennessee legislature to pass two bills. One would keep child autopsies private. “We can all fill in the blanks of what a high-capacity rifle can do to a small body,” says Mary Joyce. Her 9-year-old daughter lived through the Covenant School attack.
