How Roy Acuff’s Fiddle Made It From WWII Germany To Nashville’s Country Music Hall Of Fame

A fiddle found in a bombed music store in Frankfurt, Germany, during World War II has made its way to Nashville’s Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. When soldiers found the fiddle, they sent it to country music star Roy Acuff, whose music they listened to during their service.

Listen Firsthand accounts from World War II are getting harder to come by, but a former prisoner of war is finally sharing his story near the end of his life.   Spring Hill resident Michael Fleischmann spent more than seven months in a German prison camp during the war.

93-Year-Old Bomber Pilot Writes Memoir On 1,500 Pages Of Legal Pads

One of Tennessee’s 27,000 living veterans from World War II will add another memoir to the massive library of writings by those who lived through the conflict. This book started out as 1,500 pages of pencil and paper.
