This Is Nashville is a live one-hour daily show driven by community, for community. If you have a topic or idea you’d like us to cover, please let us know by reading these pitch guidelines and submitting your idea through the pitch form.
Before you submit, please learn more about our show format by visiting thisisnashville.org. At This is Nashville, we produce in-depth profiles on people in Nashville like news icon Demetria Kalodimos and author, actor, and comedian, Tyler Merrit. We delve deeply into local communities like the close-knit fiber arts community, Black artists who help to create and innovate in country music, or local organizations like Special Olympics TN. We hit the road to meet the story where it is, from visiting obscure roadside attractions to viewing Paula Vogel’s play Indecent at The Nashville Rep. And we cover current issues and events with episodes about book-banning bills and their impact on school libraries, series like In My Place, about the housing crisis, and ongoing coverage of the Covenant shooting.
Please keep the following in mind before submitting:
- BE BRIEF: As you can imagine, we receive a high number of submissions. Please be as brief as possible with your pitch.
- MAKE YOUR PITCH STAND OUT: To make your pitch stand out, be sure to prioritize how your idea is relevant to Middle Tennessee. An important part of This is Nashville is our commitment to produce shows that reflect the area we serve and engage with a diverse audience. We are unlikely to cover an event or book a guest that does not have a clear connection to Nashville or Middle Tennessee.
- FOLLOW UP: Please do not contact a specific This is Nashville staff member. Our team reviews pitches weekly and will respond with any questions they may have. You will hear back if one of our producers is interested in pursuing the topic.
- TIME SENSITIVITY AND TIME FIXED: Please keep in mind that we book and produce the show in advance. Time-sensitive pitches include news that listeners need to know more about right away, like natural disasters, tragedies, state and local politics, etc. Time fixed events include community events and releases of books, music, etc. Time-sensitive events that affect the safety of the community, like natural disasters, tragedies, state and local politics, necessitate a quick-turnaround. We will unlikely be able to cover a time fixed event with less than six-weeks notice. The more notice you can give us, the better.
- EVENTS: We are unlikely to cover events like fundraisers, restaurant openings, or parties.
- NOTE TO PUBLICISTS & MANAGERS: If you’re a publicist or manager, please pitch just once and only include one pitch per form entry. Please don’t send multiple form entries for the same pitch.
If you just have a question, email us at [email protected]. Please give us at least a week to get back to you. If you don’t hear back from us right away, please keep in mind that we also get a lot of emails. Thank you so much for your interest.
