Business Interests and Homeless Advocates Find Common Ground
Over the last few years, a coalition of downtown businesses has taken a shotgun approach to reducing homelessness in Nashville. The Downtown Partnership successfully lobbied for stiffer panhandling laws. Even today, it purchases one-way bus tickets to send homeless people back to their families. Advocates have cried foul much of the way. But now the two sides have found some common ground. They’re working to house the most vulnerable people living on Nashville’s streets, applying a business solution to a social problem. WPLN’s Blake Farmer reports.
